Personal

Stan – I grew up in a small North Carolina town called Lawndale.  It’s so small that an annex while I was in college almost doubled the town’s size to a whopping 700!  I was involved in Cub Scouts for a year until the pack folded, but joined our local troop in the fifth grade.  My father was the Scoutmaster and I look back very fondly at the times we spent together during Scout activities.  I worked on camp staff through high school and remained an active Scout until I aged out at eighteen.  I was an Assistant Scoutmaster while attending community college.  A fraternity brother helped me become a professional Scouter in 1991.  My first district was in Northeastern North Carolina and was comprised of three rural counties.  The biggest town was Roanoke Rapids, which had about 17,000 people.  I quickly learned the importance of volunteers because we didn’t have a whole lot of them!  I successfully served a mostly suburban district in Greensboro and supervised two rural districts as a District Director there.  I served another rural three-county district in Southern Maryland in 2001 and 2002.  As a Finance Director and Field Director, I interacted with a wide variety of people, including CEOs of multi-million dollar companies.  As Scout Executive, I have been responsible for a 12-county area with two District Executives.  Wichita Falls is the population center of the council with about 100,000 people.

I am a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow and Wood-Badge trained.  I enjoy cooking and the futility that is my golf game.

Jennie (wife) – She grew up in what was at the time rural Wake County, but is now in the city limits of Raleigh, NC.  We met while she was a sophomore at NC State University through my roommate who thought we might hit it off.  He was right!  Jennie has worked in various teaching jobs, mostly at the pre-school level.  She worked at a group home in our neighborhood in Virginia.  She is currently an adminstrative assistant at a law firm.  She enjoys crafting and is always helping out a friend or neighbor.  She is a troop committee member and was a Girl Scout leader.

Matthew (son) – He completed three semesters at Midwestern State University where he was majoring in Theatre.   He is an Eagle Scout.  He was a Scout since Tiger Cubs and held the distinction of being the top popcorn seller in his units each year until his younger brother dethroned him.  He worked at summer camp for two summers.

Logan (son) – He is in the eleventh grade, is a Life Scout, and has also been a Scout since Tigers.  He is involved in several school choirs and and performed in several school productions, including the lead role in the musical, "Grease".  He has worked at summer camp for the last two summers.

Paige (daughter) – She is in the ninth grade and earned the Bronze Award in Girl Scouts.  She is a "flyer" on her high school JV Cheerleader squad.  She was a C. I. T. at summer camp last summer.
